(06-11-09) 11:19 PDT ALAMO, CA - Reporters
from around the world descended upon the bedroom community of
Alamo,
California where a local resident, known as Mr. Milo, discovered a
long missing Faberge Egg at a garage sale on Danville Blvd.
"On a whim, I stopped at this yard sale two weeks ago near the house, and while rummaging through a container of odds and ends, I noticed a flimsy little box that barely protected a highly decorated egg shaped object that was tagged at twenty dollars. At first glance, I thought it was just some sort of ornament, but when I looked at it closely, I realized that this was possibly one of eight missing Faberge Eggs. Quickly, I hatched a plan to purchase it without drawing too much attention and after some back and forth, I ended up shelling out twelve dollars, which I thought was a good buy," noted Mr. Milo during an interview this morning at his home. A representative of the Russian ambassador has requested through diplomatic channels that the egg, authenticated as the Empire Nephrite egg created in 1902 for Czar Nicholas II of Russia, be turned over to them. Mr. Milo, however, was confident that his garage sale receipt will continue to ensure that he is recognized as its rightful owner, despite any fowl play by the Russians. Asked what he would do with the egg, Mr. Milo stated that he would have it restored to its original condition, then bring it back to Alamo for display at the Ask Mr. Milo corporate headquarters. Appraisers
generally agree that the Empire Nephrite egg, pictured to the left, is
likely worth a minimum of eighteen million dollars.********************
