EARTHQUAKES – DUCK, COVER & HOLD

This week One Ask Mr. Milo Plaza will conduct a “Duck, Cover and Hold” Earthquake Drill.

Emergency Team members will be observing the drill and completing the Earthquake Drill survey forms.

ALL Tenants of the building are required to participate in the drill and remain in their HOLD position until the "all clear" announcement is made over the public address system.

What you need to do:

In the event of an earthquake, the following events occur and the following steps should be taken:

1.        Get under a solid desk or table. (Duck/Cover)
2.        Stay away from all glass windows, partitions, stairwells and elevator lobbies.
3.        After the initial shock, stay where you are as after shocks often occur. (Hold)
4.        Do not use matches or open flame (to reduce fire danger).
5.        If it is necessary to evacuate the building, follow fire evacuation procedures.
6.        Tenants should supply their space with first aid kits, bottled water, radios, batteries, blankets             and other survival items in order to be prepared should it become unsafe to leave the                     building.
7.        Elevators will go to the next floor and open; they will automatically stop normal operation                 until an inspection is made to determine that the equipment is safe to operate.

Thank you for your participation.
