Subject:    Fire Marshall Inspection

The Alamo Fire Marshal will be in this Saturday, March 25th to inspect the building's new Fire /Life Safety System.  He will also be looking for fire code violations on all floors.  In preparation for Saturday's inspection, we ask that all managers and supervisors inspect their areas and correct any violations, especially as they pertain to the following:
  • Fire corridors (direct paths to the emergency exits) must be a minimum of 44 inches wide.  Please remove any boxes, furniture or other items from these corridors. If you have file cabinets in the fire corridors and you have maintained the 44 inch minimum between the cabinet and opposite wall, the files can remain but must be locked at all times.
  • Auxiliary aisles (between workstations) must be a minimum of 36 inches wide.
  • Fire Extinguisher cabinets must not be blocked. Please remove any furniture, paper bins, or other items from in front of the cabinets.
  • Please remove all items that are within 18 inches of a fire sprinkler, whether hanging from the ceiling or on top of a file cabinet or bookcase.
  • Make sure that stairwell doors are not blocked open.  These doors must be kept closed at all time.

Please contact Facility Management at x5654 if you have any questions or if you require assistance.
Thank you for your cooperation.
